Print, Pivot & Persist: The MAG Print Story

Twenty years ago a family started a print shop in Brampton. Today MAG Print is one of the most versatile print operations in the GTA.

In this episode host Bram Bains sits down with Jessie Panesar — second-generation owner of MAG Print — to talk about what it really looks like to grow up in a family business, navigate a tough market, and keep building when everyone else pulls back.

Who is Jessie Panesar?

Jessie was eleven years old typesetting pages on an old computer in his dad's shop. By fifteen he was cutting materials after school and doing admin. Today he runs the whole operation.

MAG Print — Media Arts and Graphics — prints on everything. Signs, media walls, glass windows, snowboards, golf balls, fishing hooks, branded merch. If you need it printed, they make it happen. They are a Brampton institution and they have been at it for over twenty years.

What you'll hear in this episode

  • Growing up in the family business — from typesetting at eleven to running the operation today

  • What organized chaos really looks like when you're building something from the ground up

  • How MAG Print navigated the 2025 real estate market slowdown and pivoted to survive and grow

  • Why the businesses that keep advertising through the slow seasons are always the ones still standing

  • What it takes to step into leadership when the business is your family's legacy

As Jessie put it — "The man who stops advertising to save money is like the man who stops the clock to save time."
